What are they?
These delightful little treats were the simple product of necessity. We needed a desert for a picnic and had a bushel of green apples. They were a hit at the picnic and everyone asked what are those apple things.

Thus the recipe was born.
Apple Things
2 Core and peal two large green apples. Cut the apples into slices and cut the slices into 3rds. Then place them in a medium mixing bowl with the lemon juice, brown sugar and cinnamon. Mix with a wooden spoon until blended.
¾ cup butter
1 and 2/3 cups of confectioners sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 and 1/3 cups flour
2 large green apples
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon lemon juice
3 Add the apple mixture to the cake batter and blend at low speed until apples are mixed in. Place the batter into any pan with muffin sized molds. Bake at 325 for 15 to 20 minutes until and inserted toothpick comes out clean.
1 In a large mixing bowl beat the butter with an electric mixer until smooth. Add confectioners sugar, eggs and vanilla. Mix until smooth. Gradually add the flour and mix thoroughly.
